Spotlight Meals - Le Cagibi (formerly Café Pharmacie Espéranza)

December 27th, 2007

Comedian DeAnne Smith performed an hour's set at Le Cagibi tonight. They host various events in their space. It is a bit awkward for shows as there is a post in the middle of the room, but with its casual seating it makes for a comfortable experience.

I was only a little hungry so I had their soup of the day with some bread. The soup was a delightfully tasty squash recipe with just a bit of kick to it and the bread, a thin slice of multigrain goodness. I also had a beer as it was a bit if an evening out.

Last night I met up with friends for a drink at Café Esperanza. I had not had supper so I ordered their Vege Pate sandwich (hold the mayo). I placed my order at the counter and they gave me a playing card on a small stand to put at my table so the waiter could find me when my order was ready. What a nifty idea. The sandwich was served with a small side of grated beets and salad. The sandwich itself was served warm. It came with pickle, tomato, and spinach. The vege pate was tasty and filling. I only ate half my sandwich and brought the rest home. It was still in good shape the next day when I had it for lunch.
